Thai election results

December 24, 2007

According to the Bangkok Post the turnout was 70.2 percent.

It look as if the PPP have won the largest number of seats with 228 out of 480 just shy of an overall majority.  If they are to form a government then deals will need to be done and it appears that Puea Pandin have been approached and the Bangkok Post reports that a deal might be done with Chart Thai.  However, the BBC reports that the next three biggest parties have ruled out joining the PPP in a coalition for the time being.

The Democrats won 166 seats, Chart Thai Party won 39 seats, Puea Pandin Party won 26 seats, Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana won 10, Machima Thipataya won 7 and Pracharaj won 4 seats.
